Having 'test-driven' this very handy instrument, I would suggest it would have tangible benefits in many situations, my thoughts are as follows:

1. Indispensable in the veterinary toolkit - in practice and on the road.
2. I'm sure many GPs/nursing staff would find it useful, and probably better for ocular surface exam than their current methods.
3. It's easy availability in non-eye medical environments would help an ocular surface,
4. Easy to use for new ophthalmic nursing staff from their first day.
5. Easy to carry and use on all patients for all ophthalmic staff in a domiciliary environment.
6. Especially useful to have available for exams with children or anxious patients.
7. As an alternative for patients unable to access or be positioned on a slit-lamp.
I would go as far as saying every eye care or medical practice should have at least one!

I had the opportunity to judge this excellent device in a couple of scleral contact lens assessment this weekend, I found it excellent, especially for the initial viewing on lens placement, presence of air bubbles and initial clearances etc, Both easily done with the aid of its magnification and being able to easily switch between its built in blue fluorescein (with filter) and white light sources.
